Roar into the 1920’s
with the Spotlight Still Got It Players
“Flapper”
is a MUST See!
Canton, Mich.-- What do speakeasies, Charleston’s and
airplanes have in common? They can all
be found in the upcoming production of “Flapper,” opening Wednesday, May 23rd. The Spotlight Still Got It Players are
taking a huge leap of faith by presenting their first
ever musical production. Auditions, once
again proved that actors over the age of 50 are vibrant and have no fear of new
challenges. A record number of people
came to sing and dance their way into the production.
Director of the all senior acting ensemble, Debbie Lannen, describes the
show this way: “Meet Polly Pepper, a flapper who
really knows how to live in the time of Stutz Bearcat automobiles, Ziegfield
girls, raccoon coats, and gangsters. Polly’s about to inherit a fabulous
diamond necklace called the ‘Ice Garden’. She’s planning a madcap birthday
party and inviting all her pals. But there’s trouble ahead! Written by
playwright Tim Kelly and musician Bill Francoeur, songs include ‘The Roaring
Twenties”, “Mona’s Moaning Low”, and “Flapper”.
Cast members include: Robin Hoover
as the madcap Polly Pepper and Dee Morrison as Mona – everyone’s favorite
nightclub owner. Terry Viviani and Jack
Galazka can once again be seen cutting it up onstage as Cheater and
Muggs – thugs you won’t want to miss. And let’s not forget the Duke and Duchess
– Ray Frasier and Linda Trygg.
What could they possibly be up to?
Director Debbie Lannen sums up the
production this way, “At a time in their lives when things should be slowing down, the senior actors of the Spotlight Still
Got It Players have no intention of sitting and watching grass grow.
They are singing, dancing, and building a flying airplane (yes, I said
airplane)”. Reserve your tickets today. You won’t want to miss this one of a
kind musical presented by a one of a kind group!
