Important Information For P-CCS Middle And High School Families Regarding Canvas Dashboard

The district has addressed some issues parents and students have encountered with virtual learning.

P-CCS Middle and High School Students & Families:

It has come to our attention that there could be one or two issues that students and families might encounter when exploring their Canvas Dashboard. This will not affect all students, however we wanted everyone to be aware of it in case it does affect your family.

Issue No. 1:
A student does not see a specific course on their Canvas Dashboard that is listed on their MISTAR schedule, with the exception of those high school students in the P-CCS Virtual Academy. High school Virtual Academy students, please refer to the email from your teacher to connect with them and your courses.

  • This will occur if the teacher of the specific class "unpublished" the class to make some updates or changes. The class will return to a student’s Dashboard when the class is “published” again. The schedule available in MISTAR is the correct representation of a student’s schedule. All classes that meet this week in Canvas will be published before the start of school on Tuesday.

Issue No. 2:
A student’s Canvas Dashboard shows enrollment in courses that do not match up with what is shown in MISTAR.

  • This is related to the syncing between MISTAR and Canvas. The schedule that exists in MISTAR is accurate and should be the one followed by the student until the MISTAR and Canvas sync is complete.

Solution for Tuesday:
To make sure students are following their correct schedule on Tuesday morning, students should follow the version of their schedule that is in MISTAR. So, students should find their First Hour class in MISTAR and then match that class up with the matching button on their Canvas Dashboard. That will ensure that students are in the correct class. They will then do the same for their remaining classes (2nd through 6th hours).
