Livonia Native Shoots Cyclist To Death, Flees To Costa Rica: Officials

A Livonia native was arrested in Costa Rica after police said she fatally shot a professional cyclist​ in Austin, Texas.

LIVONIA, MI — A Livonia native was arrested in Costa Rica after police said she fatally shot a professional cyclist in Austin, Texas, federal officials announced Thursday.

Kaitlin Marie Armstrong, 34, a Livonia native, was arrested Wednesday at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Austin officials issued a murder warrant for Armstrong's arrest after police said she fatally shot professional cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson at an Austin home on May 11.

Officials said they found Wilson unconscious and bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds at a residence on the 1700 block of Maple Avenue in east Austin.

Officials believe Armstrong may have sought out revenge against Wilson, after finding out Wilson was involved with her former lover, FOX17 in Austin reported. She is expected to face a first-degree murder charge.

As a Michigan native, Armstrong grew up in Livonia and graduated from Stevenson High School, where she was an athlete.
