Man Dies After Car Hits Him On I-275 In Wayne County: Police

Officials said the driver was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

HURON TOWNSHIP, MI — A man died Monday night after he was struck by a car in Huron Township, Michigan State Police said.

Troopers said they were called to the southbound lanes on Interstate 275 at Sibley Road around 10:20 p.m.

When troopers arrived, they saw two men walking away from a vehicle, officials said. Troopers told them to stop, but neither listened and kept walking away from officers.

One of the men finally stopped and was brought back to his car, officials said.

As troopers were looking for the second man, they found vehicle debris about a quarter-mile away and a car parked on the freeway's shoulder, officials said.

Troopers approached the car and the driver told police that she thought she had hit someone on the freeway, officials said.

That's when troopers found the man laying in the freeway near the debris, officials said.

Troopers tried saving the man's life before medical personnel showed up, but couldn't, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Officials said the woman was not injured in the crash and is cooperating with investigators.
