Man Killed In Canton House Fire After Trying To Save Pet: Report

Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

CANTON, MI — A man was killed in a Canton house fire Tuesday morning while trying to save his pet, according to multiple reports.

The fire happened at 1 a.m. at a home in the 43000 block of Lancelot Drive, near Sheldon and Palmer, according to CBS Detroit.

Firefighters arrived and found the home fully engulfed in flames, according to the report.

Investigators learned two adults had escaped, but that a 44-year-old man was still inside the burning home trying to save a pet, according to the report.

Firefighters later found the man dead on the second floor of the home. It was unclear if the pet was ok.
