Man Killed in Head-On Collision in Redford

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash​.

Redford, MI – Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a crash that killed a 31-year-old Inkster man early Thursday morning on Beech Daly Road in Redford.

According to a news release, a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was southbound on Beech Daly approaching Plymouth Road when a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado that was northbound on Beech Daly crossed over and struck the Suburban head on.

The driver of the Suburban, a 31-year-old man and resident of Inkster, and the passenger, a 30-year-old woman also of Inkster, were both transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The man died of his injuries. The woman was admitted to the hospital.

According to the Redford Observer, the two were engaged.

Redford Police Sgt. Duane Gregg said the woman’s injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.

The driver of the Silverado, a 25-year-old woman and resident of Redford, was treated and released by paramedics at the scene. She is currently in police custody pending further investigation.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Gregg said the case would likely be presented to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office Friday for possible charges.
