MI City Named Best In Nation To Live And Raise A Family, Magazine Says

MICHIGAN — A Michigan city was named the best place in the nation to live and raise a family, according to a new ranking from Fortune.

The business magazine picked Ann Arbor as the best place to live on its list of Best Places to Live for Families. Novi was also on the list, coming in at number 10.

Although Ann Arbor is primarily known as a college town, the magazine made note of its booming industry in tech, auto and health case, as well as its top-rated schools and restaurant options.

"While it’s famous for being the home of the University of Michigan, the City of Ann Arbor isn’t just a college town," the magazine wrote. "It offers a wealth of opportunities for all different types of families beyond the university’s reach."

The magazine also mentioned Ann Arbor's activities for families, such as concerts, parades and festivals, including the Ann Arbor Film Festival and the annual Art Fair, which draws about half a million people to the city each summer.

In addition, residents have access to over 160 parks and highly walkable areas like Main and State streets, all while building a thriving LGBTQ community that's highlighted by its annual Pride weekend, the magazine noted.

Lastly, the magazine touched on Ann Arbor's food, which is offered in over 400 restaurants, and Michigan Stadium (The Big House), where Michigan football plays on Saturday's in front of some of the craziest college football fans in the nation.
