Katie Olex, the owner and founder of DownPup Yoga, has a 20 year background in nonprofits and specifically youth programming. She was introduced to yoga while navigating the grief of losing both parents to cancer. She found that the combination of breathwork, movement, and rest provided her with both an outlet and coping tools that were of enormous benefit to her in that process.

She also realized that children could benefit from yoga as well.
"Kids are the perfect students of yoga," Olex said. "They are enthusiastic and open to trying new things, and yoga supports their physical, mental, and emotional development in many ways."
