- A Canton bakery will be giving away free cake on Thursday, Sept. 1. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Nothing Bundt Cakes will give the first 250 customers a free Confetti Bundtlet, which is the brand's individually packaged miniature bundt cakes. The bakery, located at 44630 Ford Rd, opens at 9 a.m. on Thursday's. (Plymouth-Canton Patch)
- North Main Street in Plymouth will close down for about two weeks while crews work on the railroad crossing. The posted detour will take motorists from Theodore to Farmer, then Farmer to Amelia back to Main Street. (Hometown Life)
- An invasive alga, known as "rock snot" was found in a second northern Michigan river, state environmental officials announced Wednesday. (Michigan Patch)
