Plymouth Police Chief Battles Human Trafficking
Gov. Rick Snyder appoints Thomas Tiderington to another two-year term on a Michigan panel that addresses the problem.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI — Police Chief Thomas Tiderington has spent much of his career fighting hman trafficking, and he will continue the fight at the state level, according to a media report. Tiderington, the head of Plymouth Township's police force, has been appointed to another two-year term on Michigan's Human Trafficking Commission by Gov. Rick Snyder, the Plymouth Observer reported.
The commission seeks to educate the public about human trafficking and works with health care providers, police departments, courts and agencies that can help its victims. The panel also advises Michigan lawmakers on ways to improve how the state addresses the problem, including ways to stop prostitution, the Observer reported.
The problem has affected western Wayne County, as communities such as Plymouth and Canton have seen prostitution cases in hotels along the I-275 corridor, according to the Observer.

Tiderington began fighting human trafficking and prostitution in Florida, where he was a police officer in Fort Lauderdale. He helped create and served as the chief of a special investigations division to fight the problem and educate the public, the Observer reported.
