Plymouth Township Police Investigating Possible "Stranger Danger" Case

A mother told police an unknown man approached her elementary-school aged child and asked him if he "wanted to go for a ride," police said.

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI — Police are looking for a man wanted in connection with a possible "stranger danger" incident that happened last week in Plymouth Township.

A mother told police that her elementary-school aged child was riding his scooter in the Trailwood Subdivision, (Trailwood Road between Riveredge Drive and Creekwood Circle) at 4:50 p.m. Friday when a man in an unknown car approached the child, according to police.

The unknown man asked the child if he "wanted to go for a ride" with him, according to police.

Officers spoke with the child who described the car as "red" and initially told officers it was a convertible, but then finally settled on it being a sedan, according to police.

The suspect was described as a man, possibly in his mid 30s, wearing sunglasses, according to police.

Investigators have been unable to find any witnesses or surveillance footage that captured the incident, according to police.

Police were still investigation the incident and asked anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They also asked any residents of the Trailwood Subdivision to send in video footage that may have captured the interaction or the suspect’s vehicle.
