PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP PRESENTS PUCKS TO PASADENA Detroit Red Wing Alumni vs. USA Hockey

Plymouth Township is proud to present "Pucks for Pasadena" on Tuesday November 24th with the Detroit Red Wing Alumni vs. USA Hockey

Plymouth Township is proud to present “Pucks for Pasadena” on Tuesday November 24th. Pucks for Pasadena is a special event that will feature the Detroit Red Wing Alumni vs. USA Hockey’s U17 team, and all of the proceeds will help the Plymouth Canton Marching Band’s efforts to perform in the 2016 Tournament of Roses Parade.

“We are excited to join the Plymouth Canton Marching Band in the efforts to get to Pasadena,” said Plymouth Township Supervisor Shannon Price. “This is a tremendous opportunity that does not come along often. In fact, this is only the second time in the school’s history that they have been invited.”

The January parade will mark the 127th Anniversary of the Tournament of Roses Parade, and since 1950 this will only be the 7th time a High School band from Michigan has played in the parade. This will be the first since 1973 for the Plymouth Canton Marching Band.

“We are proud to be one of the twelve bands from around the country selected to play in the 2016 parade,” added Chris Zygmunt, the PCMB President. “Our band follows a very strict schedule that has them practicing more than 60 hours a week during the summer and 20 hours a week during the school year. With the band receiving the MCBA Michigan State Flight I championship and now being awarded an opportunity to play in the Tournament of Roses parade, their hard work and dedication is paying off.”

The Plymouth Canton Marching Band consists of approximately 175 members who have been competing for over 40 years. They have been the MCBA Michigan State Flight I champions 24 times, including 2014. They have been BOA Grand National finalists 19 times and BOA Grand National champions 3 times.

“This is a tremendous once in a life time opportunity our community; however, the cost to travel to California is monumental,” continued Price. “That is why Plymouth Township teamed up with the City of Plymouth, Canton Township, and USA Hockey to help raise the money that is needed for kids to go to Pasadena. I am confident that we will be able to raise the money, and the band will make all of us proud!!”
