Police Seek Suspect in Plymouth Township Hit-and-Run

The suspect lost a wheel on his vehicle, then drove on for about a mile before crashing and fleeing on foot, police said.


Michigan State Police deployed a canine officer Wednesday night to search for a suspect in a hit-and-run accident in Plymouth Township.

According to police, a man and his car were struck by a white pickup as he putting gas in his disabled vehicle about 8:50 p.m. on Interstate 275 near M-14. His emergency flashers weren’t activated, police said.

The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, but suffered broken bones and internal injuries, according to a report on WXYZ-TV.

The suspect didn’t stop after hitting the man, but continued driving for about a mile even though he lost a wheel from his vehicle. He crashed the pickup in the area of Ann Arbor Road near Haggerty in Plymouth, at which point officers believe he took off on foot, according to the report.

Police said they don’t think the suspect owned the white pickup truck.
