Rachel Kulik, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service at White Lake, told The Detroit News said Wednesday’s was the first recorded tornado in Michigan in December, though twisters have been reported in the state in January and February.

The storm also damaged property in the Lenawee County town of Deerfield, scattering debris up to 50 yards away, and in Blissfield, where multiple roofs were blown off in a mobile home park along U.S. 223. The storm toppled trees in western and northern Michigan, leaving about 82,000 Consumers Energy customers without power, according to The Detroit News report.
