Staff Member Stabbed At Westland Hospital: Police

WESTLAND — A staff member at the Walter Reuther Psychiatric Hospital in Westland was stabbed by a patient on Tuesday afternoon, Michigan State Police said.

State troopers said a patient took a metal piece from the drop ceiling in his room and had the object concealed in his waist band when he approached the staff member in a hallway.

That's when state troopers said the patient stabbed the worker in the neck and shoulder area at 1:55 p.m. The patient was then restrained by other patients and staff, while the injured worker was taken to a local hospital, officials said.
Officials were further investigating the stabbing before submitting a report to the prosecutor.
