Suspected Drunken Driver Hits, Kills Man On Michigan Avenue In Metro Detroit: Reports
Police said the man was crossing Michigan Avenue near Interstate 275 in Canton when he was struck Monday night, according to reports.
CANTON, MI — A man died Monday night after a suspected drunken driver hit him on Michigan Avenue in Canton Township, multiple reports said.
Police said the 56-year-old man from Wayne was crossing Michigan Avenue near Interstate 275 at 8:45 p.m. when he was hit by a silver SUV, reports said. The man was killed instantly, police said.
The driver returned to the scene shortly after the crash and was arrested by police, reports said.

Police believe alcohol played a factor in the crash, as detectives continue investigating the incident.
The eastbound lanes of Michigan Avenue were closed between Interstate 275 and Hannan Road after the crash, but have since reopened.
