'Online Noise': After Shooting Leads To Wayne County Bar's Closure, Owner Says

A Wayne County bar has closed for good months after a shooting that happened in the parking lot and left two people injured.

GARDEN CITY, MI — Rockstarz Karaoke Bar, located in Garden City, has closed for good months after a shooting that happened outside the bar.

Owner Greg Wier said rumors and other "online noise" quickly spread about the bar after the shooting, leading to its closing.

"I felt the community needed an explanation – what is going on at Rockstarz, our decision to close, and we wanted you to hear it from me, and not some of the people who will hear this message who spread lies, hate, and ultimately led to our decision," Wier said in a video announcing the closure.

Prosecutors said multiple men got into a fight in the parking lot of the bar. That's when 29-year-old Brian Jaron Lindsay shot a 55-year-old man in the head and his 22-year-old son in the chest.

They were both taken to a nearby hospital where they were listed in critical condition, prosecutors said.

Lindsay turned himself in to police the next day and was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, two counts of felonious assault and six counts of felony firearm.

Lindsay's lawyer argued that the shooting was self-defense. His trial is scheduled to start in June.

Following that shooting, Wier said people online accused the bar of having no security, overserving customers and that the shooting started inside the bar, all of which he said wasn't true.

"People who weren't there started talking, stories got twisted, rumors and lies spread like facts," Wier said. "And just like that, everything we built over 17 years, decades of history before us, was reduced to assumptions, rumors and online noise."

Rockstarz, which was once known as Jamie's, opened along Ford Road in the early 2000s. It later changed its name to Renegades before rebranding back to its original name.
