Wayne-Westland Middle School Student Hit, Killed By School Bus: Police

A Franklin Middle School student​ was killed Tuesday afternoon after the boy was hit by a school bus in Wayne, police said.

WAYNE, MI — A Franklin Middle School student was killed Tuesday afternoon after the boy was hit by a school bus in Wayne, police said.

Jacob Dawson-Escobedo was hit by the bus at 2:50 p.m. in the area of Howe Road and Annapolis Street, police said.

Superintendent John Dignan said Dawson-Escobedo was a smart, creative student who was working on a fantasy book.

"Jacob will be missed by his teachers and classmates," Dignan said.

School officials said a crisis intervention team of professionals is available to help students and staff affected by the accident.

Investigators were still investigating the crash.
