Whitlock Named Workman Elementary’s New Student Support Coordinator

Whitlock has spent 28 years in education and more than 17 years as a teacher at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park and Discovery MS.

Marc Whitlock has been known for years as an outstanding music teacher and was also the leader of the world-renown Plymouth-Canton Marching Band, but he is turning in his conductor’s baton to take on another challenge. Whitlock was recently named the new Student Support Coordinator at Workman Elementary School.

Whitlock has spent 28 years in education and more than 17 years as a teacher at the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park and Discovery Middle School. In addition to his classroom responsibilities, he has been very active working on curriculum design, serving as the department chair for Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education and World Languages and was an educator leader for the P-CCS K-12 Arts Taskforce.

In addition to his time at P-CCS, Whitlock has been a music teacher at Hebron High School in Carrollton, Texas and Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois. He even spent four years with Mason Entertainment Group as the music manager for “Blast! - The Musical,” working with the Broadway U.S. touring cast.

Whitlock earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Morehead State University and a Master of Music from Sam Houston University. He is widely published and has served as the Chief Administrator for Adjudication for Winterguard International for many years.
