Police are looking for a driver who sped away from officers and smashed into a pickup truck, killing a man in Auburn Hills, police said.
AUBURN HILLS, MI — Police are looking for a driver who sped away from officers and smashed into a pickup truck, leaving a man dead and a woman injured Thursday in Auburn Hills, according to police.
Officers tried stopping a speeding red 2020 Kia Forte south on Lapeer Road between Dutton Road and Walton Boulevard at 7 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
The Kia Forte sped away from officers, who terminated the chase near Zelma Drive (about a half mile) after the Kia reached 88 miles per hour, according to police.

The Kia Forte then smashed into a 2002 tan Ford F-150 at the intersection of Walton Boulevard and Perry Street, according to police.
A 68-year-old man was extricated from the pickup truck and taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to police.

A woman, who was a passenger in the Kia Forte, was also injured in the crash and taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries, but was listed in stable condition, according to police.
The driver of the Kia Forte ran away from the crash scene after the incident, according to police.
Police are still looking for the driver of the Kia Forte, but did not release any description information.
Police do not believe there is a further danger to the public.
