1 Shot, Injured During Fight At Youth Football Game In Oakland County: Officials

Officials said the shooting stemmed from a fight between adults.

PONTIAC, MI — A man was shot and a woman was pistol-whipped during a youth football game Sunday in Pontiac, according to officials.

Officials said the incident stemmed from a fight between adults at Wisner Stadium, located at 441 Cesar E. Chavez Avenue.

The 19-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released, officials said.

Officials also said a 27-year-old woman was struck in the head with during the shooting before the shooter left the area.

Witnesses described the suspected shooter to officials who quickly arrested the 37-year-old man and recovered a 9mm handgun.

He was placed in the Oakland County Jail.

Officials said the man has a valid concealed pistol license, and the handgun recovered from the scene was registered in his name.

"The young athletes and their families didn’t do anything to deserve this new traumatic memory and to miss out on their athletic opportunities," Pontiac Mayor Mike McGuinness said. "If you want our community to do better and be better, you’re going to have to check your ego, pride, anger, and guns at the door."
