100 Women Who Care- Greater Rochester Donates $26,900 to House of
The House of Providence is an organization that provides therapeutic homes for minors who are wards of the State of Michigan.

100 Women Who Care – Greater Rochester (100WWC), a philanthropic group of women, came together for their 20th meeting and donated $26,900 to The House of Providence, an organization that provides therapeutic homes for minors who are wards of the State of Michigan and find themselves languishing with no prospect of adoption.
100 Women Who Care member, Corrin Barnett was selected and nominated The House of Providence to receive the group’s collective donation of $26,900 during the group’s April 2018 meeting. The House of Providence was founded by Jason and Maggie Dunn in response to the orphan crisis in Michigan. The organization provides foster children who have little chance of adoption with a safe place to stabilize while finding hope and healing. Barnett discovered The House of Providence through a multitude of fundraising opportunities and felt called to help.
“I am grateful and honored to have the opportunity to share my passion for The House of Providence with 100 Women Who Care,” said Barnett. “When I first heard The House of Providence’s founder, Maggie Dunn tell stories about the foster children, I was so moved and inspired. I felt an instant connect to The House of Providence and feel confident that God handpicked The Dunn's to care for these children. Children's lives are being changed every day because of the infectious love and compassion of these two leaders, and I’m so grateful that 100 Women Who Care – Greater Rochester can support their vision.”

The House of Providence has provided housing and support to 70 foster children since its inception. The organization receives referrals though through the Department of Health and Human Services before doing additional screening to assess the child’s desire to be a part of the organization. The House of Providence helps each child through skill and ego-strength building while also offering individual and group therapies.
“We started The House of Providence to provide foster children with a transitional environment to build their confidence and stabilize before finding a forever home,” said Maggie Dunn, Co-Founder of House of Providence. “Right now, The House of Providence has a spot for about 10 girls at a time but this generous donation from 100 Women Who Care will help launch our boys home in the Fall of 2018.”
