2 Dead, 2 Hurt In 3-Car Crash In Macomb County: Sheriff

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two men were killed and two other people were hurt after a Sunday afternoon three-car crash in Washington Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said a white Ford Bronco was moving south on Van Dyke Road near West Road at 12:40 p.m. when the driver crossed the centerline and smashed head-on into a silver Toyota Prius.

A grey Chrysler 200, which was moving behind the Prius, also smashed into the back of the Prius, officials said.

A 58-year-old Oakland Township man, who was driving the Bronco, was taken to Henry Ford Hospital where he died, officials said.

A 38-year-old Livonia man, who was a passenger in the Prius, was taken to Troy Beaumont Hospital where he died, officials said.

The driver of the Prius and the driver of the Chrysler 200 suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, officials said.

Officials shut down the roadway in both directions for hours to investigate. Officials also notified DTE Energy that the Bronco struck a utility pole resulting in downed live wires.

"Our sincere condolences to the families and friends who lost loved ones in the tragic incident," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said. "We are extremely thankful for the outstanding collaborative efforts of the MCSO, Washington Fire and EMS, Bruce Township and Shelby Township Fire Departments."

No further information was released by police.
