OXFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — An Oakland County construction worker is recovering after a trench collapsed on Tuesday morning, according to sheriff's officials.
Workers were installing field tile as part of a septic system at a construction site in the 3900 block of Barber Road in Oxford Township, officials said.
One worker entered the trench to glue pipe together at 9:25 a.m. when a wall collapsed and buried him beneath the soil, officials said.
Crews were able to pull the 35-year-old Ira Township man from the trench, officials said.
He was taken to McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition while undergoing further evaluation, officials said.
Investigators from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) are leading a workplace safety investigation.
