Rochester Hills Woman Cashes In $1M Powerball Ticket Hours Before It Expires

The woman cited personal reasons for waiting a year before claiming the prize.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A Rochester Hills woman waited one year to claim her $1 million Powerball prize, cashing in just hours before the prize was set to expire, according to Michigan Lottery officials.

Theresa Lynchosky, 63, matched the five white balls (08-12-45-46-63) in the July 14, 2025 Powerball drawing to win a $1 million prize.

She bought the winning ticket online at MichiganLottery.com.

"I regularly play Powerball and purchase my tickets online," Lynchosky said. "The day after the drawing I logged on to my Lottery account and was stunned when a notification popped up saying I won $1 million!"

Lynchosky told lottery officials that she kept a screenshot of the pop-up and kept looking at it because she couldn't believe it was real.

"I decided to wait to the claim the prize for personal reasons and didn’t tell anyone about the big win until last week when I told my best friend," Lynchosky said. "I was so happy to finally share the news with someone and I’m even happier to be here claiming my prize after waiting a year."

Lynchosky said that she plans to save her winnings.

"I still don’t have the words to describe what winning this prize means to me. I feel so grateful and blessed," Lynchosky said.
