Avondale School District Announces New Principals for Two Avondale Elementary Schools

Auburn Hills, MI ---May 22, 2013----Avondale School District, an achievement-oriented learning community focused on student leadership and success in academics, the arts and athletics, announces Robert (BJ) McCabe has been named principal of Auburn Elementary, home of the new Avondale/Oakland University collaborative partnership school, effective immediately. McCabe had been the Learning Consultant at Hampton Elementary School in the Rochester Community School District since 2009. Avondale Superintendent Dr. George Heitsch is pleased to welcome Mr. McCabe as principal.
“BJ McCabe has a deep enthusiasm and love of education at the elementary school level. He has the energy and vision to successfully lead this new school concept with Avondale and Oakland University,” said Heitsch. “We are pleased to welcome BJ to the Avondale community.”

Immediately prior to serving as the Learning Consultant at Hampton Elementary, McCabe was a fourth grade teacher there from 2003 to 2009. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Central Michigan University, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Saginaw Valley State University and a Michigan Administrative Certificate for Elementary and Secondary K-12 education. McCabe is a resident of Chesterfield.
Dr. Heitsch also announced the appointment of Mrs. Arryn Schneider as Woodland Elementary School principal, replacing retiring Principal Amy Price, effective July 1, 2013. Mrs. Schneider was previously the assistant principal at Avondale Middle School.

“Arryn Schneider demonstrated solid leadership skills and administrative competencies during her tenure at Avondale Middle School. She is well positioned to lead Woodland following the excellent direction provided by Mrs. Price,” said Dr. Heitsch.
