
Students at recently celebrated the school's 7th International Day. Children received their passports and traveled to six of the 18 countries represented in the building. While visiting each country, students were greeted in the native language and discovered the customs and traditions of that nation.
In Switzerland, the international travelers sampled Swiss cheese and a traditional Swiss waffle cookie called a Braezeli. In Mexico, students made turtles and in India they created lanterns.
Festivities continued in the evening with the Colors of the World dinner. Families were treated to traditional foods from all around the globe. Restaurants and parents provided traditional dishes such as Polish Golabki’s and German Spaetzle. The day concluded with fabulous entertainment including dances from Mexico, India and Ireland.

“I’d like for students to realize that we all come from different backgrounds and that’s what makes us special," said Carolyn Hannenberg, committee chair for this year’s International Day. "It’s fun to learn about different cultures and backgrounds. You can see how things that are tradition in your family may be similar to traditions in different cultures”.
