Avondale High School celebrates Liaya Blueford

Top Scholar active in marching band, cheer team and theater

Named an Avondale High School Top Scholar, Liaya Blueford is the daughter of Jehan Blueford and she resides in Auburn Hills, Michigan. In addition to taking multiple Advanced Placement and Honors courses, Liaya has participated in several extracurricular activities throughout her high school career, including Class Board, the Avondale Theatre Company, and four years with the Yellow Jacket Marching Band where she held a shared leadership position during her senior year. Liaya was also a member of the AHS cheer team for three years, two of those at the Varsity level, in which she earned the distinction, OAA Scholar Athlete six times, along with the title of CCCAM Academic All-State. In addition, she is also a two-time receiver for both the Most Improved Award and the Purple and Gold Award. She has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for four years, and she plans to study Biology in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan.
