Preethi Venkatesan, named an Avondale High School Class of 2020 Top Scholar, resides in Rochester Hills, Michigan with her parents, Elumalai and Selvi Venkatesan. Preethi was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. In addition, she was in the Art Club and part of the Green Team, involved in activities designed to build awareness about environmental stewardship. For two years, she participated in Girls Who Code. Preethi is also an accomplished musician. She plays flute in the Concert Band and the Yellow Jacket Marching Band. She also plays the piano and has earned multiple 1st and 2nd Division ratings for flute and piano solos through the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association. She has also been a State Qualifier. A member of Avondale Future Problem Solving, Preethi earned semifinalist and finalist designations for her submissions. In the fall, Preethi will be attending Oakland University, pursuing a degree in Engineering.
