Avondale High School names David Ghitas Top Scholar

Student honored for achievement in and out of the classroom

Residing in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Avondale High School Top Scholar David Ghitas is the son of Ioan and Marinela Ghitas and a lifelong Avondale School District student. Actively participating in extra-curricular activities including National Honor Society where he served as an officer, Class Board, the Diversity Club, Bubble Bee Bistro, and a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), David was also a member of the Varsity cross country team, the Varsity track team, and Captain of the Varsity swim and dive team. He plays in his church band and earned a Varsity letter playing baritone in the AHS band. David achieved Principal’s Honor Roll in all of his middle and high school years; received an NHS Award for performing the most volunteer service hours and an NHS Award for character recognition; a Leadership Recognition from cross country, track, and swim and dive; the Cross Country Purple and Gold Award; and the Above and Beyond Achievement Award at his church. David plans to attend Oakland University in the fall to pursue an Engineering Degree.
