Avondale High School recognizes Top Scholar Dana Holt

Student also celebrated for multiple art awards

Avondale High School Top Scholar Dana Holt resides in Rochester Hills, Michigan with her parents David and Julie Holt. A member of the Class Board throughout her high school career, Dana was also a member of the Senior Council in her senior year. Taking AP and Honors classes throughout high school, she achieved Principal’s Honor Roll and Scholar Athlete distinction all four years. Dana was part of the first AHS girls’ lacrosse team and was awarded the Purple and Gold Award and the Captain’s Star. She was also a member of NHS for two years. An accomplished artist, she earned many art awards for her work. This year, she received a Gold Key from Scholastic Art for her portfolio. In the past two years, she has received 14 Scholastic Art Awards including 7 Gold Keys, 6 Silver Keys, and 1 Honorable Mention. One Gold Key Award in 2019 received a National Silver Medal from Scholastic Art - placing her submission in the top 1% of submissions in the nation. She was the Scenic Charge Artist for MIFA 2018-19 competition and received Superior Awards in Set Painting and Set Design at the regional and state levels. Dana received additional art awards including placing in the Top 20 in Mahindra’s Pop Art contest in 2019, winning the high school division in Rochester’s Deck Art 2019 contest, Best in Category for Drawing and Illustration from Scholastic Art 2020, and placing in the Top 100 for the Michigan Governor's Traveling Exhibit 2018-19. Dana will be attending Michigan State University, majoring in Graphic Design.
