America is going through a crisis right now. On one hand we are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic that is still spreading and on the other hand we are dealing with the tragic death of George Floyd and others by some police. Systemic racism is a pandemic in its own right. It is deeply rooted in the American history. What can we as a nation do to end this?
My religion Islam Ahmadiyya can provide a solution. Islam says we must always be just and not discriminating even if it is against our own selves or our kindred. The Holy Quran proclaims,
“Be steadfast in the cause of Allah, bearing witness in equity; and let not a people’s enmity incite you to act otherwise than with justice. Be always just, that is nearer to righteousness.” (5:9)

A person with authority, in this case, our law enforcement officials or those in power, should not abuse their powers by judging others solely by the color of their skin.
His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide spiritual leader of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and fifth Caliph of Messiah Ahmad reminds us that “Peace and security cannot be established until people of each race and nation are able to recognize that they are indeed the children of Adam and created by a male and female and are therefore equal.” Being always just requires us to act equitably with everyone, that is the only way we can move forward.

About Ahmadiyya Muslim Community:
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, the Community spans over 200 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, established in 1920, is among the oldest American-Muslim organizations.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the only Islamic organization to believe that the long- awaited messiah has come in the person of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. Ahmad claimed to be the metaphorical second coming of Jesus of Nazareth and the divine guide, whose advent was foretold by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad.
The Community believes that God sent Ahmad, like Jesus, to end religious wars, condemn bloodshed and reinstitute morality, justice, and peace. Ahmad’s advent has brought about an unprecedented era of Islamic revival and moderation. He divested Muslims of fanatical beliefs and practices by vigorously championing Islam’s true and essential teachings.
