Brendan Santo Died By Accidental Drowning: Report

An autopsy report also showed Santo had a blood alcohol content of .22 the night he accidentally drowned.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — Officials determined Monday that Brendan Santo accidentally drowned with a blood alcohol content of .22, according to an autopsy report from the Ingham County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officials also listed the high blood alcohol content as a contributing factor to his death.

The 18-year-old Rochester Hills teen was found dead on Jan. 21 in a logjam along the Red Cedar River in East Lansing by a private investigator hired by the Santo family. He was found a little more than a mile from where he was last seen.

Santo went missing around midnight on Oct. 29 at MSU's campus, near Yakeley Hall, after visiting with friends during the weekend of the Michigan-Michigan State football game.

As investigators identified the missing teen as Santo, officials believed upon discovery that there was no foul play or that he intended to harm himself.
