We’re opening the doors of the Van Hoosen Farmhouse to host an informal tea hour. Guests get the chance to interact with artifacts and documents normally stored safely away in the collections room, while enjoying the ambiance of the 1840s Van Hoosen Farmhouse. This unique opportunity has limited seating. Tea and light desserts will be served. See website for topics.

Jacy Garrison, Senior Environmental Planner with Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner's Office will present “Rain Gardens - A Beautiful Solution to Runoff and Pollution.” She will discuss the benefits of rain gardens, as well as designing, planting and maintaining one.
Please enter through the De Carlo Visitor Center.&nbsp; Guests are welcome and reservations are not required.&nbsp; There is a $5 non-member fee. Refreshments at 9:15 a.m.

The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm is open for drop-in hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 - 3pm, with a Guided Tour of the 1840 Van Hoosen Farmhouse at 1:00pm and the 1850 Red House immediately following. 
Included with your admission is a self-paced, interactive look at our community’s local history. You also get to meet the Taylor-Van Hoosen families, check out Mastodon bones, and enjoy a wide variety of local videos from the Newberry Hill ski jump to our award-winning PBS movie and numerous computer interactives. The guided tour of the Van Hoosen Farmhouse departs from the Dairy Barn at 1:00 pm, and you may take a self-guided tour of the Bull Barn, Milk House, Equipment Barn, and Children’s Garden, as well as the nearby Stoney Creek Cemetery, and our 16 acres of grounds. Come and share your afternoon with us at our site – listed on the National Register of Historic Places!

First Congregational Church, UCC

First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Rochester is hosting the Motor City Chorale as it presents its “Music Through the Century, Vol. 2” concert on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 1315 N. Pine Street, Rochester.
The concert will include such favorites as Time After Time, Dust in the Wind, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Africa, Bohemian Rhapsody, Let the River Run and many more. The Chorale rehearses weekly on Monday evenings at Lincoln High School, in the Choir Room at 22900 Federal Ave., in Warren. The Chorale is always on the lookout for new singers 
Originally founded in 1933 as the General Motors Chorus, the Motor City Chorale is celebrating more than 90 years of continuous service to the Metro Detroit community. Open to the public, the concert is free of charge. A free will offering will be collected. 
The Chorale is directed by Eric Miller, a post he has held since 2015, following his tenure as the Chorale’s accompanist from 2008-2015. He served as choir director of Warren’s Lincoln High School from 1981 to 2015, and currently is the Senior Choir Director of St. Paul’s Church, Grosse Pointe Farms. 
The accompanist of the Chorale is Robert Foster, who has served as organist of First English Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Woods since 1984 and Piano Accompanist for Grosse Pointe North High School since 2017. 
 
“We feel so fortunate to welcome once again the Motor City Chorale. Their musical gifts are extraordinary,” commented Senior Pastor Scott Cunningham. “We hope the local community will come and enjoy their gifts.

The Motor City Chorale is a strategically planned and guided 501(c)(3) organization that fosters, develops and shares a passion for choral music. It inspires audiences through masterful choral performance, dedication to artistic excellence, educational enrichment, entertainment and community service. The chorale actively participates in annual charity events, including providing music scholarships for vocal students at Warren’s Lincoln High School, performing at the John Dingell VA Hospital in Detroit, caroling at Greenfield Village during Holiday Nights, and collecting and donating school supplies, food, clothing, personal products and Christmas gifts.
