Celebrating Aging American's Month this May
This May marks the 50th anniversary of the Older American's Act...celebrate by getting active in your community.
Americans celebrate Older American’s Month this May with the theme ‘Get Into the Act’ to focus on older adults taking charge of their health, getting engaged in their communities and helping to make positive impacts in those around them.
This year’s theme celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Older American’s Act signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. Since that time, the Act has helped to provide national aging services and funding. These services include home-delivered and congregate meals, caregiver support, community-based assistance, preventive health services, elder abuse prevention, and much more.
Crittenton Home Care encourages older adults to stay active as they age by getting involved in organized events throughout the community. Whether at a senior center or gym, many communities have events specifically designed for seniors. Caregivers can also gain support through these community resources.
