Community Corner

Chief Financial Credit Union opens Community Center and Branch

Downtown Rochester building offers meeting and event space for community

(ROCHESTER, MI - November 11, 2022) Chief Financial Credit Union’s new Community Center and Branch at 20 S. Main on the Chief Financial Campus at the corner of Diversion and Rochester Road officially opened this week welcoming guests from across Metro Detroit to tour the space.

Chief’s new community center and branch offers the community and businesses a welcoming space to gather, learn, and connect. As part of Chief’s commitment to empowering financial success and inspiring creative philanthropy, the Chief Financial Community Center features meeting spaces for members, the community, and local organizations to work, an event space as well as public areas.

The Community Center broke ground in 2020 working with Michigan-based architecture firm, CBI Design Professionals, inc. “People who are familiar with the Rochester Area knew this space as US Scuba for decades. The lobby design was based on the same open concept which housed the US Scuba dive pool. We simply opened the Atrium and lobby up even more to the community by opening the north wall so that you can see Downtown Rochester from the center of Chief’s Atrium," said Robert Clarke. "We also created an outside patio area and steps leading to Paint Creek Trail as part of the exterior spacing surrounding the Atrium. You get a sense as your driving up or just down that Chief’s Community Center being is inviting and open to be experienced and utilized by the community."

Since its founding in Oakland County in 1941, Chief Financial Credit Union has shown commitment to its members and the community alike. Originally headquartered in Pontiac, Chief has expanded over the years to include its Dearborn, Pontiac, Rochester Hills, Birmingham and (coming soon) Troy locations.

“When we moved our headquarters to the Rochester area in 2015, we were welcomed with open arms,” said Tom Dluzen, Chief President and CEO of Chief Financial. “As we’ve continued to grow into other communities, it made sense for us to expand our footprint in the community we call home with a beautiful space that welcomes people into Downtown Rochester.”
