A judge again rejected a request to transfer 16-year-old Ethan Crumbley from the Oakland County Jail to a youth facility.

PONTIAC, MI — An Oakland County judge has again denied a request to transfer 16-year-old Ethan Crumbley from the Oakland County Jail to a youth facility as he awaits trial in the Nov. 30 Oxford High School shootings.
Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Kwame Rowe made the ruling during a Thursday morning virtual pretrial hearing.
Crumbley is charged as an adult with 24 counts, including four counts of premeditated murder and terrorism. The shooting left four students dead and seven other people wounded.

Teens charged with crimes are usually housed at Children's Village youth detention facility; but due to the severity of the Crumbley's charges, he was placed at the Oakland County Jail. Under law, though, a judge must review the 16-year-old's status monthly. The next review is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 23 in person. A previous request was denied March 1.
The 16-year-old's trial is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 6, roughly six weeks before his parents' trial starts. Jennifer and James Crumbley are also charged in connection with the shooting, and each face four counts of involuntary manslaughter as prosecutors say the two are culpable for their son's actions.
