Crumbley Parents Trial Postponed, Reports Say

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The trial for Jennifer and James Crumbley, who were each charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the deadly Oxford school shooting, has been delayed, according to reports citing Oakland County Circuit Court records.
The couple's trial was originally set to begin on Oct. 24, but the couple’s next scheduled court appearance is set for an Oct. 28 Daubert hearing, where the judge will determine if expert witness testimony will be admissible during trial, reports said.

The couple was last in court earlier this summer when a judge declined their motion to have the trial moved out of Oakland County. The defense also said they plan to call the couple's son, Ethan Crumbley as a witness.
Ethan Crumbley was charged with 24 counts, including four counts of premeditated murder and terrorism after authorities said he opened fire in Oxford High School on Nov. 30, killing four fellow students and wounding seven other people.

Ethan's trial date was originally supposed to start in September, but it was moved to January 2023, since the couple's defense plan to call him as a witness during their trial.
Prosecutors said Jennifer and James Crumbley ignored disturbing warning signs and desperate pleas for help from their son leading up to the deadly attack. The defense, however, argues the couple had no way of knowing that their son was planning the attack.
All three Crumbley's are housed separately in the Oakland County Jail. Ethan pleaded insanity and will go straight to trial. His parents are being held on a $500,000 bond. They were denied a reduced bond twice by an Oakland County judge after prosecutors said they posed a flight risk.
