2nd Man Arrested After Suspects Posed As DTE Workers In Rochester Hills Slaying

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — A second man has been arrested in connection with a Rochester Hills killing, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The man was arrested during a traffic stop in Plymouth Township, according to the sheriff's office.

No other details about the man were immediately released Monday.

Hussein Murray, 72, was found dead Friday morning inside his Rochester Hills home in the 3700 block of Newcastle Drive, according to the sheriff's office.

A Dearborn man was first arrested in Shreveport, Louisiana Saturday in connection with the killing. Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37, was charged with felony murder, which carries a mandatory life offense if he's convicted, and two counts of unlawful imprisonment, 15-year felonies, according to the sheriff's office.

Hernandez is also wanted in Ohio for an armed robbery warrant, according to the sheriff's office.

He is expected to be moved to Oakland County, where he will appear in court within the next few days, according to the sheriff's office.

Police said Hernandez and another man told Murray they needed to check for a gas leak inside the home while posing as DTE workers with a clipboard that also had a DTE logo.

Once inside the home, Murray led them to the basement, according to the sheriff's office.

When the men posing as DTE workers came back up from the basement, they tied Murray's wife with duct tape and spent at least 20 minutes searching the home, according to the sheriff's office.

It was unclear if anything was taken from the home, according to the sheriff's office.

Murray's wife was eventually able to call 911 and told police that she believed the men kidnapped her husband, according to the sheriff's office.

Murray's wife was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later released, according to the sheriff's office.

While searching the home, officers found Murray's body in the basement, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators do not know how Murray was killed due to the extent of the injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Murray's wife told investigators that the men first showed up at the home Thursday night, but the couple did not let them into their house, according to the sheriff's office.
