Vote For Rochester In 'American Main Street' Contest

ROCHESTER, MI — Downtown Rochester has been named a quarterfinalist for the “America’s Main Streets Contest” and needs your votes to claim the top spot. More than 117,000 votes were cast for 303 entrants during the nomination phase. The 25 communities with the highest number of votes were moved to the quarterfinalist round and online voting runs now through May 27.

“We are in our third year of the contest and are so happy to see the passion and pride these nominees have for their Main Streets and the local businesses that keep them alive,” said Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle. “Now it’s time for consumers to show their support and vote again to move their favorites into the semifinals”

The theme this year is “Local Memories. Lasting Impact.”

The top 10 semifinalists will be announced on May 28 and the winner of the 2018 “America’s Main Streets” contest will be announced June 4 followed by a “Main Streets Make Us Better” celebration on the Fourth of July, when the winner will announce how the prize money will be utilized.

The contest prizes include a $25,000 grand prize, a $500 Do It Best Corp. shopping spree, public relations and social media recognition, and a special plaque.
