Driver Critical After Rochester Hills Accident
Independence Township woman's vehicle veered off the freeway and struck a concrete bridge abutment, police said.

A 37-year-old Independence Township woman sustained life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle accident in Rochester Hills at 4:40 p.m. Sunday.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the woman’s vehicle veered off of eastbound M-59 and into the median, where it traveled approximately 1,000 feet before striking the cement abutment supporting the Rochester Road overpass.
The driver, who was not responsive at the scene,was taken by ambulance to Troy Beaumont Hospital, where she was taken to surgery. The driver was listed in critical condition.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows alcohol and/or drugs may have been a factor.
