DVR Alert: Rochester Hills Native on 'Jeopardy'

Rochester HIlls native Gemma Kaneko will compete on “Jeopardy!” in a pre-recorded segment that airs at 7:30 p.m. Monday on WDIV-TV in the Detroit market.

“I’ve always loved (‘Jeopardy’),” Kaneko told The Oakland Press. “I always watched it and I had the computer game. ... Sometimes, if you misspelled the answer, you wouldn’t get the point and I would get so frustrated.”

A 2007 graduate of Rochester High School, Kaneko, 25, is a writer for Major League Baseball’s website. She earned a drama degree from New York University in 2011.

She took an online test to qualify for the program, but didn’t hear from the venerable quiz show until several months later.

“I didn’t hear from them and I kind of forgot about it,” she said. “I really didn’t think I’d be on the show (because) I didn’t think I did well on the test.”
