Flower Pot-Throwing, Bat-Wielding Suspect Detained
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office established a perimeter in Rochester Hills after responding to man causing disturbances in neighborhood.

Rochester Hills, MI - A 25-year-old Auburn Hills man was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation after police were dispatched to a Rochester Hills residence Friday to investigate reports of a man throwing flower pots at houses, using a baseball bat to destroy a garage and causing other disturbances,
Deputies who arrived at the home in the 400 block of Farmridge Court about 2:30 p.m. found damage to the inside of the garage, according to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Inside, they found a chainsaw blade protruding from the bathroom door, rifle shell casings on the floor, and other items that had been thrown about and destroyed inside the home,
The suspect did not respond to commands to come downstairs., and due to the rifle casings, damage to the home and unusual behavior, deputies treated and established a perimeter, according to the repot.

The homeowner arrived home and reportedly told police the suspect was her son and that he has violent and destructive tendencies when he is intoxicated. She said the rifle casings belonged to her and there were no guns inside the home.
After verbal attempts to convince the suspect to surrender were unsuccessful, police entered the home and found the suspect in the basement, covered with spray paint, according to the report.

He was secured and taken to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills for a mental health evaluation.
The suspect’s mother reportedly told authorities she doesn’t want to press charges.
