Gordy Gwilt honored for academics headed to U of M
Avondale High School names student a Top Scholar

Avondale High School Class of 2020 Co-Valedictorian Gordy Gwilt resides in Troy, Michigan with his parents Tony and Jennifer Gwilt. He has been a member of the Avondale Theatre Company for four years, serving on the Theatre Executive Board for two years. In addition, Gordy’s involvement in the Company has been multi-faceted as he assumed the roles of choreographer, director, actor, and technician. In 2020, the Company earned the title of Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association Division 1 State Champions, in which Gordy played an integral role. Gordy served as a Team Captain on the Avondale Forensics Team for three years, where he earned the titles Class A Multiple State Champion in 2018 and Class A Storytelling State Champion in 2019. In addition, Gordy was part of the Avondale Spectrum staff for two years, acting as the Business Marketing Manger for one year. He was also in the Avondale Band and the Yellow Jacket Marching Band for three years. Serving on the Class Board, he was elected Vice President for two years. Gordy will be attending the University of Michigan in the fall to study Chemical Engineering.
