Governor Gretchen Whitmer to speak at Oakland University commencement
Ceremony will be held on Friday, April 28

Michigan’s 49th governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is scheduled to give the keynote address at Oakland University’s commencement ceremony on Friday, April 28 during the 2 p.m. undergraduate ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences.
“It is a tremendous honor to host Governor Whitmer and to hear her share her thoughts with our graduating students at our spring commencement ceremonies,” said Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, M.D., president of Oakland University. “The governor will be addressing our talented young men and women who will be entering the workforce of our state at a critical time for Michigan. With their gifts, talents, skills and competencies, we are confident that they will make an enormous impact on our state, regional and national economy.”
Governor Whitmer is a lifelong Michigander and has signed more than 900 bipartisan bills and four balanced, bipartisan budgets during her time in office. Her administration has also funded educational programs putting tens of thousands of people on tuition-free or tuition-reduced paths to higher education and skills training.

The governor has also made the largest education investments in state history for four years in a row, delivering the highest state per-student funding ever.
