'Green Schools' Awarded $25K in Reyclebank Grants

The awards fund a dozen projects at rochester Community Schools.

ROCHESTER, MI – A dozen Rochester schools received green grants totaling $25,000 through the Reyclebank Green Schools Program through which schools apply for up to $2,500 for projects that encourage greener lifestyles.

For every 250 points donated to the school of their choice, that school received one dollar.

This year, residents not only donated enough points to fully fund all 12 projects, they donated a national record of 6 million points.

Rochester schools have been longtime participants in Recyclebank’s Green Schools Program and has received grants for eight consecutive years. To date, Recyclebank has given more than $50,000 to Rochester Community Schools.

To celebrate this year's success, the City of Rochester Hills hosted a check presentation and reception at the Harrison Room in the Rochester Community Schools Administration Building.

Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett and Superintendent Robert Shaner, along with representatives from each participating school, gathered to receive their check from Paul Winn, executive vice president of Recyclebank.
