Happy Birthday, CK Diggs!
Local restaurant celebrates 13 years in Rochester Hills with specials this week.
Local restaurant is marking its 13th year of serving up meals in Rochester Hills, and they're inviting residents to the celebration.
Starting today through Friday, CK Diggs is offering a buffet of complimentary appetizers from 5:30-7 p.m. There will also be drink specials each day, including $3 margaritas, from 5 p.m. to close.
And it's not a party without presents so look for give-aways throughout the celebration (like frisbees and logo pint-glasses with drink purchases).

It's a family affair
CK Diggs is family owned and operated with a local history that goes much farther back.
Family patriarch Michael Khami owned and operated Murdock's at Crooks and M-59.

"Dad ran Murdock's for 23 years. It started as the Brass Lamp in the 70s then became Thumper's Disco in the 80s. Finally it was Murdock's but he sold it when I was away at school," Chris Khami told me.
"He putzed around in semi-retirement until I graduated from University of Michigan and we spent the next two years constructing this place," Khami continued.
CK Diggs opened in 1998 and the family, including Chris's sister, Nichole Kirma, has been hard at work ever since.
When I asked Khami how it was working with family he laughed and told me, "It definitely helps that we don't live together, too."
About that name
I've named a couple of kids, a handful of pets and even my cars (I call my mini-van Moby), so I was curious where the title CK Diggs came from.
Khami shared with me that the "CK" are his initials and the "Diggs" is a nod to his degree in anthropology. The stone decor is a reflection on his schooling and the "Diggs" name also.
After 13 years on the corner of Auburn and Crooks roads, one thing is for sure— CK Diggs is a rock solid Rochester tradition.
CK Diggs is located at 2010 West Auburn Road. They open daily at 11 a.m. except Sunday when they are closed. Call 248-852-7730. To read about their volcano burger and my previous dining experience there, click .
