How to Discard Christmas Trees in Rochester Hills

The city of Rochester Hills is partnering with the Clinton River Watershed Council, but that's not the only option.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI – Live Christmas tree recycling in Rochester Hills will begin Saturday, Dec. 26, under a partnership with the Clinton River Watershed Council.

The trees will be accepted at the Clinton River Watershed Council, located at 1115 W. Avon Road, during the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, Dec. 26, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 27, noon-4 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 3, noon-4 p.m.
  • Saturday, Jan. 9, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Sunday, Jan. 10, noon-4 p.m.

Accepted trees must be natural and free of any lights and wires, ornaments, rope, garland, stands, or other decorative material. Volunteers will inspect trees for compliance with this order before accepting them for disposal.

Under contract with the city of Rochester Hills, Republic Services will collect discarded Christmas trees the weeks of Dec. 28, Jan. 4, and Jan.11. Republic Services will deliver the trees they collect to a compost site.

For regular pickup, trees measuring greater than 6 feet tall must be cut in half prior to placement at curbside. No disposal of any other materials, natural or artificial, will be accepted.
