James And Jennifer Crumbley Back In Court Thursday

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — The parents of the accused Oxford school shooter will face more witnesses Thursday in a continuation of their preliminary exam, where prosecutors are expected to share more evidence they plan to use in a trial against the couple.

The last time Jennifer and James Crumbley were in court, prosecutors accused the couple of ignoring disturbing warning signs by their son leading up to the deadly shooting at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, by revealing text messages that showcased Ethan's hallucinations and paranoia.

Witnesses also portrayed Jennifer as a mother who was more concerned with her own needs, as opposed to her son's, often ignoring her concerns about her son's lifestyle to go horseback riding. A witness also revealed a text from Jennifer asking the person to not judge her by her son's actions.

The couple was each charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection to the deadly shooting at Oxford High School on Nov. 30, where authorities said their son, Ethan Crumbley shot up the school, killing four students and wounding seven other people. They are each being held in the Oakland County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

The Crumbley's Thursday court hearing also comes just two days after their son was in an Oakland County Circuit Court, appealing a recent ruling that denied him a transfer to a youth facility, where prosecutors and defense attorneys shed more light into accusations accusing the parents of gross negligence as their son's behavior.

An Oakland County Judge is expected to issue his ruling on whether to grant Ethan Crumbley's request to be transferred to a youth facility early next week.

The preliminary exam is a court hearing where the judge will decide if the case goes to trial, and what evidence can be presented and who can testify in a potential trial. James and Jennifer Crumbley could face as many as 30 witnesses during their exam, prosecutors said.

An Oakland County Judge also order the couple to stop sending non-verbal signals to each other in the courtroom after prosecutors said it was "inappropriate" and "disrespectful" to the Oxford School shooting victims' families.
