Jenoptik's Planned $20M Technology Center to Create 250 Jobs

Jenoptik Automotive plans to build a technical campus in Rochester Hills, and high-tech jobs will pay around $90,000 annually.

ROCHESTER HILLS, MI– A German manufacturer of metrology and laser processing systems by the automotive industry paid $2.3 million for a 15-acre tract of previously city-owned land in Rochester Hills, where it plans to invest $20 million in a technology center that will add about 250 jobs.

Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan K. Barnett announced the deal with Jenoptik Automotive, which has had operations in the city since 2007, at the Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community Outlook Breakfast Thursday at Oakland University.

The high-tech jobs will pay around $90,000 annually, Barnett said.

The technical campus on West Hamlin Road, between Livernois and Crooks roads, will house the company’s three Michigan divisions, The Oakland Press reports.

The city has owned the property since 1999 and the Jenoptik project will return it to city tax rolls.
